Bananas, film-wrapped or on hooks

Retail branches require bananas to be supplied in very different forms. Some prefer film packing, others prefer marking with labels, which are automatically affixed to hooks, and many want the label directly on a banana or only on the delivery box.

Every importer and wholesaler must cope with the same tasks: Carefully monitored ripening in a refrigerated warehouse (15 - 20 000 18 kg boxes/week), the fastest possible packing and pricing and prompt delivery.

The pricing system shown here [1] is operated by a South German wholesaler. Data maintenance occurs directly on the device, which is located immediately after a packing system (Fig.1). The bananas coming from the system are easily conveyed, without the assistance of guide rails, to the scales and from there to the labeler (Fig. 2). The label, only 37 mm wide x 52 mm high, is blown on automatically. An operator checks the process, and the banana packs are then placed in boxes and prepared for immediate dispatch.
