Fully automatic application of mailing labels

Textile parcels

The simple, unproblematic way to conduct complex processes.
Whenever new collections are sent out from the distribution plant of a fashion textiles manufacturer, it's all systems go. The seasonal collections of old have long been supplemented with further collections for special occasions.

This makes more work, and in order to cope with this without taking on extra staff, in-house procedures have had to be streamlined even further. The rationalisation strategy includes a Bizerba dispatch weighing system [1], which stamps address labels fully automatically onto the parcels [2] on the dispatch line (see Fig. 1).

The parcels leave the packing station with a coded label from which the subsequent scanner reads off a barcode number. This number is transferred to the computer, which fetches the recipient's address and delivery mode from the host.

At the subsequent weighing station, the shipping weights are recorded and also transferred to the computer, then the parcels are conveyed to the labelling position. The print data prepared in the meantime are relayed by the computer to the labeller and printed onto the labels, which are then applied to the parcels by the stamping device.

Even in the best organised factories, there are always small subsequent deliveries, special collections or specially packaged merchandise which have to be distributed to customers and handled manually: for this purpose, a second dispatch station is also available (see Fig. 2).

The main delivery methods used by this firm are "German Parcel" and "Forwarding".
