Recognizing the Challenges of the Times: Bizerba Announces Strategic Organizational Restructuring

Balingen, 26/02/2024

| In response to the ever-evolving global technological landscape and the growing demands of the market, Bizerba, a leading company in weighing, slicing, and labeling technology, announces a strategic initiative to revamp the organizational structure, set to take effect on April 1, 2024.

Recent years have underscored the necessity for continuous organizational adaptation to meet shifting market demands and evolving customer needs. With this in mind, Bizerba has made the decision to introduce a comprehensive Business Unit structure, geared towards customer-centric and solution-oriented business models, commencing April 1, 2024. This strategic transformation forms part of a broader initiative aimed at driving organizational agility and responsiveness in the face of dynamic market conditions.

Seamless Integration from Market to Customer

"Our customers have always been at the center of our actions, and we aim to ensure that our organizational structures better reflect this in the future," explains Andreas W. Kraut, CEO of Bizerba. He continues, "By introducing a unified Business Unit structure, we strengthen our focus on customer needs and can respond more efficiently to market challenges. We are confident that this organizational change will enable us to better understand our customers and offer tailored solutions."

The Business Units operate as independent entities within Bizerba, covering all aspects from market introduction to customer service. Integrated within them are product management, a customer solution center, research and development, as well as the entire sales and after-sales area. In addition to these functions, there are global production areas as well as so-called "Shared Service Centers," which function as central service areas. This structure ensures efficient company-wide coordination and management, fosters close exchange between the Business Units, and prevents isolated work practices. At the same time, it leverages synergies and enables efficient collaboration across all levels of the organization.

Business Units for Retail, Industry, and Labels & Consumables

The Retail Business Unit comprises retail scales, slicing and packaging machines, AI-based checkout systems, and retail software. The Industry Business Unit offers a wide range of inspection systems, packaging and labeling systems, logistics systems, industrial scales and specialized industry software. Completing the trio, the Labels & Consumables Business Unit offers a portfolio of labels and tailor-made clean and care products for various applications.

The Business Units are led by newly appointed Managing Directors: Ante Todoric takes over the leadership of the Retail Business Unit, Fred Köhler will lead the Industry Business Unit, and Tom van Elsacker will be responsible for the Labels & Consumables Business Unit. All three report directly to CEO Andreas W. Kraut.

Experienced Leadership for the New Organizational Paradigm

Ante Todoric has been with Bizerba since 2004, bringing over 20 years of sales and retail expertise. As a forward-thinking leader in general management, he has successfully led various global areas. In addition to his role at Bizerba, he is involved in other business forums and serves as a valued member of the board of directors at Supersmart, an innovative company revolutionizing retail with AI-driven solutions.

Fred Köhler has been with Bizerba since October 2023, bringing comprehensive experience from his previous position as CSO in the industry. His strengths lie not only in specific product and market knowledge but also in strategy implementation, organizational and process consulting, and change management.

Tom van Elsacker has been with Bizerba since 2015 and has significantly contributed to the development and expansion of the Labels & Consumables business. With his extensive experience in business development and sales, he complements the team as an invaluable member.

Global Fight Against Food Waste
According to studies, up to one third of all food produced worldwide ends up as waste each year. This alarming figure is a growing concern not only for consumers, but it is also climbing the agenda of both the media and policymakers – especially in light of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12.3, which calls for halving global food waste by 2030. One of the key levers in this effort is the deployment of modern technology across the entire value chain.
