Challenge

Combining aesthetics, innovation and sustainability for a premium sticker

As part of a supermarket customer request, the project aimed to segment the range by introducing a premium avocado product sold individually. This high-end product needed to stand out on the shelf with an attractive design, while incorporating an innovative compostable feature, far removed from the clichés of raw materials or brown colours often associated with this type of packaging. The objective was twofold: to attract the attention of the end consumer while complying with regulatory requirements and the constraints of the customer's industrial process. The sticker therefore had to combine compliance, aesthetics and technical adaptability.
Solution

A tailor-made solution, born out of a trusted partnership

With a long history of collaboration with Bizerba, both in terms of consumables and equipment, the customer naturally sought our expertise to meet this technical and aesthetic challenge. This relationship of trust enabled us to quickly engage in in-depth discussions to define a solution that perfectly met their expectations.
Technical testing phase

The development of the label required several validation steps:

  • Material testing to ensure compostability without compromising on appearance.
  • Adhesive testing to ensure adhesion to the fruit while meeting industrial constraints.
  • Production of proofs to validate the visual appearance and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Each phase was carried out in close collaboration with the customer, with a focus on co-construction and responsiveness.

A compostable label with a premium design

The heart of the project: to design a compostable label that retains a premium design, breaking with the usual codes of compostable products, which are often perceived as crude or unattractive. The result? A solution that enhances the product on the shelf, while meeting environmental challenges and distributor requirements.

In order to meet customer demand and segment our range with a Premium product, we called on Bizerba's expertise to support us in this project.

Advantages

A premium, responsible and operational solution

Since its implementation at the end of June, the solution developed with Bizerba has been fully operational and has enabled the company to achieve its objectives. The launch of this compostable label with its premium design has generated additional sales, contributing to increased turnover and promising product range development.

A collaboration based on trust

This project is part of a long-standing relationship with Bizerba, covering both consumables and equipment. The geographical proximity to Bizerba France's headquarters facilitated exchanges, strengthening an already well-established relationship of trust. Bizerba proved to be a source of ideas throughout the process, with a responsiveness and professionalism that was greatly appreciated.

Rigorous testing for a reliable solution

Several technical tests were carried out, particularly on the adhesive, to ensure optimal adhesion to the fruit. These tests were carried out directly at the customer's premises, in a spirit of partnership and co-development. Today, the labels are applied manually, with great care, highlighting the work of each employee involved.

A solution that respects nature and the consumer

Produced in Italy, the label meets regulatory requirements while adapting to the customer's industrial constraints. It embodies a responsible approach, proving that a compostable product can also be aesthetic and high-end. This concept is now being considered for rollout to other customers, paving the way for new opportunities.
